What is prohibited use?
🚫 For renter safety, government compliance, all renters on Otto must adhere to:
- Strict No smoking policy within all Otto vehicles
- Strict No pet policy (Unless Host communicates differently)
- Strictly adherence to all legal driving rules as per local Laws
- Prohibited vehicle uses and activities include
- Letting someone else drive the vehicle who did not book it
- Allowing the vehicle to be pushed or towed by anyone other than roadside assistance authorized by your host.
- Using the vehicle past agreed jurisdiction at point of booking
- Using vehicle for “off-roading” on undeveloped or unimproved roads
- Using vehicle with the intention to cause damage, or with wanton, willful, or reckless disregard for safety
- Using the car as part of a crime or anything illegal
- Making any unapproved alterations, additions, or improvements to any vehicle
- Driver is under the influence of:
- Alcohol above the legal limit
- Chewing khat
- Any drug or medication under the effects of which the operation of a vehicle is prohibited or not recommended
- Loaded car beyond its rated capacity or with more passengers than the vehicle has seat belts
What happens if someone breaks the prohibited use?
⚠️ If you engage in any prohibited uses with a vehicle booked through Otto, we reserve the right to:
- Pursue criminal charges against you in a court of law by a host or Otto
- Void your insurance protection for any physical damage to a host’s vehicle
- Charge a penalty fee
- Temporarily suspend your use of the platform
- Permanently remove you from the platform
