To book a car on Otto you need a valid ID and drivers license that shows you are over 18 years old!
This will be required to complete your booking and you should also carry a physical copy that will be checked by a host upon pick up.
You do not need to have your own car insurance to book a car on Otto!
However if you’re at fault in an accident, and you don’t have liability insurance, you will be required to pay for the cost of damage of the vehicle or damage fee set by the host based on the host’s repair costs
If you cancel a booking before 24 hours, Otto will provide you a full refund of your money less the payment processing fee. If you cancel in less than 24 hours to booking, Otto will not issue you any refund. This is in respect to hosts who had reserved the vehicle in anticipation for your booking.
If you get in an accident, whether it was your fault or someone else's:
1. Immediately message and call your host and Otto.
2. The host will then provide you express instructions on their preferred methods to repair the vehicle.
3. If you are responsible for the damages, you will be expected to cover the "Max damage cost" you agreed to by renting a given vehicle.
Otto ensures your safety at each step of the process:
1. We verify host Identity in order to signup using Smile Identity!
2. We ensure all vehicles on Otto have basic commercial insurance & certificate of roadworthiness
3. We use Paystack to guarantee safe, secure, and seamless payments
4. Our help articles guide renters in additional practices to help protect them, including taking photos and videos when picking up and dropping off the vehicle to avoid damage liability.
Transparent pricing is important, it helps everyone feel like we can trust one another. So we keep it simple:

2. We transparently add payment processing fee, Otto’s service fee, & taxes
