What do I do incase a renter gets into a road accident?

Here's Otto’s guide to help you navigate through such instances while ensuring everyone's safety and protecting your interests.


🚗 Renter's Immediate Actions:

  • Safety First: Move to a safe location, if possible, and check if anyone is injured. Call the local authorities or emergency services if needed.
  • Notify the Police: Report the accident to the police, regardless of the severity. The police report will be important for insurance purposes.
  • Document the Incident: Take photos of the scene, including any damages to your vehicle and others involved, if safe to do so. Collect contact information of any witnesses.
  • Notify Otto: Inform us about the accident as soon as possible. Our support team will guide you through the next steps.


📞 Communication with the Renter:

  • Get in touch with the renter once you're informed about the accident. Make sure they're safe and offer any needed assistance. Ask them to share all the details about the incident, including the police report, photos, and witness information.
