How do I know that my vehicle is safe on Otto?
At Otto we understand that renting out your vehicle comes with risk. As such we have undertaken measures to heighten safety!
🔐 Identity Verification
- We partner with Smile Identity, a trusted third party service, to verify the identity of the renters before they can rent vehicles using Otto
- Through this process we verify that the ID and Driver’s License are valid government documents and not fake documents
- We verify the ID details with government records to ensure their authenticity
- We use biometric data to match the renter's face with the photo on the ID, confirming that the person providing the documents is the legitimate owner.
⛔ Suspending bad actors
- Despite having mitigation measures in place, we realize that occasionally some bad apples may slip through
- We promptly block such bad actors such that they cannot rent through the Otto platform which means that over time our platform grows safer.
👣 Vehicle Tracking and Remote Control
- Only vehicles with trackers are allowed onto the Otto platform
- This is to ensure that at all times you the host are aware of the location of the vehicle
- Incase of suspicious renter behavior you are able to perform remote control actions such as switching off or slowing down the vehicle
🆔 Insurance
- We only allow vehicle with the proper insurance on the Otto platform.
- This ensures that incase of valid incidents that result in the damage or loss of a vehicle, the host will be reimbursed by their insurance provider.
